While Chicago is known for their deep dish pizza, Caffe Florian is little known outside of Hyde Park though their pizza is far superior to popular tourist destinations like pizzeria Uno and Gino's.

Unlike the chains Florian makes their own dough and bread which is reason enough to step outside of the downtown confines.

The menu is varied--from California wraps to Italian Beef sandwiches, as well as, specialties like the lemon-pepper catfish and pasta of the day. Classic American fare like burgers and salads are also available.

Their deep-dish and thin crust pizzas come with an array of topping options. Favorites include spinach, artichoke,and garlic or the more obscure, blue cheese and pineapple.

Caffe Florian is BYOB but a store is located nearby but also offers plenty of non-alcoholic beverages including: Italian sodas, hot cocoa and espresso drinks.

At Caffe Florian you’ll find one of Hyde Park’s hidden gems just steps away from the Museum of Science and Industry. With a décor that is sans pretensions with exposed-brick walls, impressionist art and hardwood floors which make this neighborhood restaurant feel like home.
